About Me

Hi Everyone!

I'm Rochelle

I have been drawing and creating things my whole life. From sketching on my homework, painting on a fallen slate from a barn roof, sculpture and then furniture. I have always come back to painting and drawing.

Originally I am from Richfield Idaho. Near the Craters of the Moon. My family, two cats and one dog currently reside in Lakeland, TN. I have been blessed to have lived in many states and be able to see so many beautiful landscapes across the country. From those awe-inspiring moments when watching the first bit of sunlight shoot between the trees in the morning or peering into the distance at the fleeting sight of hills while speeding over a bridge to our next destination. These moments where the stressful world melts away is what I want to emulate in my paintings.

Website backstory:

Oil painting is new to me. Up until the past couple years I was a die-hard acrylic and graphite pencil artist. Thanks to my very best friend and chosen sister. She invited me to one of those painting-with-a twist get-togethers. The whole drinking wine and painting at the time seemed like it would be a blast. In a mid sized living room, several of us set up our canvas frames on a small tripod easels and followed along with an old Bob Ross video. Miss that guy. Well, I had not touched oil paint for at least 15 years. I thought I did ok not being familiar with oils. For the next three weeks, with pressure from my best friend, her family and my family I was encouraged to keep painting. They loved my work and gave me the courage to keep going and that I should start selling my art. Up until then I had never sold anything or even considered selling anything I made for myself. These things are precious to me. I have heard it called "only child syndrome". It’s real. By a couple months later, I had seven oil paintings. I was invited to bring some of my art at a store called Georgia's Gems in Bluffdale, TX. owned by my best friend's mother. It’s a small town with a lot of local artisans and antique shops. I lived in Dallas so as far as Texas goes, a two hour drive is not bad at all. I have met some of the best, most talented, and sweetest people I could have ever hoped to find.

(Above: My very first sale to Harry and Veronica, Bluffdale, TX. -Cheesy smile included.)

Thanks to my friends, my family for their life long support of my ambitions, their love, criticism, and encouragement, for helping me get to here.

Best wishes and my love,

Rochelle

My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

Inspiration

My inspiration comes from the countryside. I try to spend my time away from busy cities and traffic. Being around nature is where my heart is.

Techniques

I prefer to paint in high detail which produces a small amount of texture. I have gone to the other end of the extreme and have painted using a palette knife which creates an almost sculptural appearance.

career highlights

Graduated in 2005 from Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus, Ohio specializing in Industrial Design.
